The Truman show -

The media is very important in our live's, from the way we dress, talk, eat, socialize etc. The media can be used to influence people into making decisions that they might not have thought about or been drawn to. For example: England national soccer team never seem to do well in big tournaments and every english fan knows this but when it come to a competitions, the media makes out that were the best team in the world and will beat everyone we face so it get everyone excited and makes people feel that we can win it where a few weeks before everyone would be more realistic about the game.

Utopian view of media - I think the media is good at addressing certain areas such as sport news, gossip etc. They find out all the dirt on anyone and will work hard at getting it. They will make the story interesting for the reader. There is a paper back in england called The Sun and it is very popular as it gets all the information people want but without dragging out and going into too much detail.

Dystopian View of media - The papers can often make up stores or not tell the truth which can cause a lot of problems  for people they report about. If your famous or have been in the lime light , you will hardly get a moment where the media are not taking pics of you so you never get a moments peace. The reports will do anything to get a story which can hurt people and families.

I think there is no line between public and private when it comes to the media. If they want a story or to get the dirt on a person they will get it or make it up. They will pay people to sell stories. The openly way you can stay private is by going to court etc, other then that there is not a lot you can do to stop stories being printed. The only time you are truely private from the media is when your in your house.

Its seem that nowadays people are influenced by the media so much that everyone wants to be a celeb and get there 15 mins of fame at any cost. people will copy how people perform of t.v The difference with performance and reality t.v is that the consequences are serious on reality t.v and know one knows what will happens. In performance everyone knows that they are just actors and its not real.

The ethics of realty T.V are hard to make, as if you start censoring what is being views etc, then the audience lose interest. People love to watch drama and will turn the channel if they are not satisfied, so the better, more drama etc the happier the reality show will be as they will get more money etc. Everyone likes watching Jersey Shore as the realty stars are funny, always causing drama and in general giving the public good viewing. I understand its not everyones taste but it is entertaining to watch.

My name is Paul Dudson and I am a Junior at Reinhardt uni playing soccer. I am a film and Audio major.
I am From a place in England called Brighton which is an hour below London on the south coast. I have been in America on/off for the last 3 years traveling around and attending other uni's. I would really like to live in L.A as i just found that place to be amazing and similar to what i want to get into.
